This week John C. Bohach Elementary School officially opened to students! Washoe County School District hosted a tour for friends, family and co-workers of fallen Reno Police Officer John C. Bohach, for whom the school is named, to get an inside look.
The new elementary school is designed to relieve overcrowding at surrounding elementary schools, and provide capacity for this high-growth area. School capacity is 745 students in this 2 story, 82,500-square-foot facility. There are 28 standard classrooms, one “Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM)” Lab, three “Hub” spaces for collaborative/project learning, modern security, energy-efficient design including a geothermal heat exchange system, and drought-tolerant landscaping.
