The Q&D Culture Committee spent much of 2020 stuck in quarantine watching event after event be cancelled. As 2021 saw the restrictions loosen, the committee was excited to resume bringing the Q&D team closer together.
The Culture Committee has been busy planning and hosting several events to celebrate the return of public socializing, beginning with the first-ever side-by-side excursion. Q&D’ers showed up in droves during the May event which kicked off from our Mustang property. Dozens of off-road rigs took off in the morning for a 5-hour ride to the Petroglyphs, racing through the deserted backroads of our region.
Q&D team members enjoy a day in the sun cruising the backroads.
The Q&D Grill was fired up by the time they returned to Mustang and delicious burgers and hot dogs polished off a great day. The event was such a hit the committee is considering a fall ride as the temperatures begin to cool, so stay tuned for more details on this event.
Q&D brought even more fun to its employees during the 2021 Reno Rodeo, offering multiple nights for our employees to attend. We hosted a Couples Night and a Family Night in the grandstands of the rodeo arena, and we also sent our most qualified interns to the Steer Decorating Contest. An annual rite of passage for new Q&D employees, the Steer Decorating contest provides shame and laughter for all Q&D’ers who participate. Check out the video below as the team of Connor Semenko and Jordan Ranson attempts to tie the ribbon on the tail of the calf.
Many were disappointed when the 2020 I DIG event was ultimately cancelled due to the COVID protocols, but the cancellation helped make 2021 the best event in company history. Over 350 people attended the annual summer event for Q&D families offering food, games and (of course) the chance to run heavy machinery. Kids anxiously jumped into the cabs of our equipment in July, scooping and moving dirt alongside our talented operators who graciously donated their time for the event.
The Culture Committee sends its sincerest thanks to all the volunteers and coordinators who helped make the event possible. Bringing together 300+ people, 15 heavy duty machines, dozens of volunteers and enough food to feed everyone takes an incredible amount of planning and commitment. And the Culture Committee is not done yet when it comes to 2021.
Q&D is bringing back a classic event for the early days of August, the Q&D Car Show. Classic rides will be shined up and lining the parking lot of the main office on August 13 with prizes for the Best in Show, Most Unique and People’s Choice. Raffle tickets will be given out for a Q&D Swag Bag as well.
Q&D has rented out the entire center field pavilion of Aces Ballpark in downtown Reno on September 18 for Reno Aces Night. The center field area is equipped with a full kids play area and a buffet dinner will be served to our guests. The season’s last homestand should come with plenty of excitement, so join us for a night at the ballpark next month.
