As the sixth fastest-growing airport in the nation, Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport needed a terminal that could keep pace with the region’s rapid growth. Q&D was honored to be selected for this transformative expansion project, which kicked off in the summer of 2019.
The project included 33,000 square feet of new terminal construction and the renovation of 7,000 square feet of the existing facility. Our goal: to enhance both the functionality and visual appeal of the airport, delivering a modern and efficient space for travelers and staff alike.
Due to the project’s complexity and tight schedule, the Airport selected the Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) delivery method—prioritizing collaboration, flexibility, and value for the County. Over four years, Q&D worked closely with designers and airport leadership to deliver the project on time and under budget.
The CMAR approach also enabled the Airport to expand the project scope during construction as additional funding from grants and stakeholders became available—maximizing the impact of every dollar invested.
We’re proud to have played a role in preparing Sonoma County’s airport for the future, supporting the continued growth of this vibrant region.
