For this 250-acre campus, which houses the 2,100,000-square-foot Tesla Gigafactory, Q&D provided heavy/civil and structural concrete services. The project began in Spring of 2015 and continued as the plant expanded to full size. Q&D paved approximately 2,500,000 square feet of parking for employees and storage areas.
Q&D’s utility work at the factory includes water, sewer, storm drain, fire water, industrial water, chilled water, and underground electrical and telecom conduit for the main building and the fire pump house, new well house, central utility building, hazardous waste treatment facility, and several storage yards.
Tesla has also hired Q&D for structural concrete work which includes footings and foundations for several phases as well as slab-on-grade and roof construction – a total of 60,000 cubic yards of concrete placed. Q&D has excavated 400,000 cubic yards of earth to date.
