Q&D Construction played a vital role in the Sacramento International Airport Runway project as a subcontractor to Granite Construction. This large-scale infrastructure project involved the construction of a brand-new runway, enhancing the airport’s capacity and operational efficiency.
Q&D’s scope of work covered multiple critical aspects of the runway’s finishing and joint sealing. Our team performed all the green sawing on the entire 143,300 square yards of 16-inch PCCP, ensuring precision and durability. We completed 124,536 linear feet of widening and chamfering of all joints, followed by the installation of DS Brown E-816 Compression Seals and sealing with DS Brown 900 SL Silicone for long-term joint integrity. Additionally, we executed runway grooving across 124,900 square yards to improve traction and water drainage.
In keeping with our commitment to sustainability, Q&D also recycled all the slurry from the runway using our in-house slurry press, reducing waste and lowering project costs. Our expertise in pavement preservation and efficiency made us a key contributor to this essential aviation infrastructure upgrade.
