In August 2023, Q&D’s Specialty Services division completed an intense runway rehabilitation project at the Portland International Airport (PDX), requiring full closure of the longest airport runway in Oregon. The crew was only given 12 total closure days to complete the 11,000 linear feet of runway and three alternate taxiways, creating a tough logistical task for the entire team. The team rehabilitated more than 200,000 LF of PCCP joints and spall repairs in only eight days on the project, finishing a full four days before the closure was required to open. The phasing plan allowed operations to continue at PDX despite the closure, leaving the airport functionality intact. The project not only finished ahead of schedule but it was also free of any injuries.
