I-80 Wheel Rut Repair

This project was a Caltrans emergency repair project specifically to address the wheel ruts caused by the winter climate in the higher elevations and tire chains that cause damage to the finished surface of the concrete roadway. This project focused on the wheel ruts from CA/NV state line to 267 on I-80 that totaled approximately 34 lane miles. The work included diamond grinding the wheel rut, preparation and inlay paving of polyester concrete, resealing the joints, and individual slab replacements. These wheel rut repairs were deemed the best option by Caltrans as the scope of work is effective, less disruptive and more cost effective to extend the life of the concrete pavement.
