This project converted the former Fire Sciences Academy in Carlin, NV into a dual-purpose facility for the Nevada Army National Guard (NVANG). The existing building was expanded and retrofitted to allow for Nevada Army National Guard training activities and a new state-of-the-art armory was built. A learning center was built in place of the original classroom and fire station buildings. The Elko Readiness Center will also have administrative offices and family support offices on site. The 593rd Transportation Company will store one-third of its trucks at the facility. Everything from encryption devices and radios to high security weapons storage of small arms will be available at this facility.
In the opening ceremony the Nevada National Guard, for the first time, was able to have Native Americans participate. During the ceremony elders from the Te-Moak Tribe blessed the land.
The project is LEED Certified.
