Fresno-Yosemite Int’l Airport Terminal Expansion

The Fresno Yosemite International Airport Terminal Expansion is a multi-phase, large-scale modernization effort designed to support sustained passenger growth and advance the airport’s long-term master plan priorities. Delivered through a progressive design-build model, the project is being led by Q&D Construction in partnership with CSHQA, with close coordination from Kimley-Horn and airport leadership.

This expansive program includes more than 500,000 square feet of phased construction and renovation, focused on improving passenger flow, operational efficiency, and international capability while maintaining full airport operations. Key components include the addition of new gates with passenger boarding bridges, construction of a new international arrivals facility, expanded TSA security screening, upgraded outbound baggage screening and makeup systems, expanded concessions, and comprehensive airside and landside improvements.

The project responds directly to rapid growth at Fresno Yosemite International Airport. Over the past decade, passenger volumes have increased significantly and are projected to exceed two million annual passengers. The airport’s 2018 Master Plan Update identified terminal expansion as a critical priority, positioning this project as a cornerstone investment in the region’s aviation infrastructure.

Throughout design and construction, Q&D has worked in close collaboration with the design team, airport operations, municipal stakeholders, and federal inspection and security agencies. The progressive design-build approach allows for transparent cost development, continuous constructability review, and phased execution that aligns with airport operations and funding requirements. Special attention has been given to managing utilities, access, security boundaries, and passenger circulation to minimize disruption within an active terminal environment.

By integrating early contractor input with disciplined phasing strategies, the team has enabled informed decision-making, protected ongoing operations, and maintained alignment with schedule and budget objectives. The result is a mission-critical terminal expansion that enhances capacity, improves the passenger experience, and positions the airport for decades of continued growth.
