Q&D kept its aggressive schedule for mid-June grand opening by performing critical path trades with its own work force. To make way for the grand opening of major retailers Scheels All Sports and Target in time for the 2008-2009 holidays, Q&D crews completed grading, utilities, pads and interior roads. Working double shifts, we delivered a buildable pad for the 295,000-square-foot Scheels store in just 2 weeks. We completed all sewer, water, gas, electric and storm drainage systems in the complex and widened Sparks Boulevard on the 148-acre complex in 2008. In addition, multiple roadways were underway, coming out of the ground on six large retail shells with 1,000,000 square feet of retail space for multiple tenants.
“This project defies the odds, because the team of RED Development and Q&D is delivering an impressive center in a short timeframe,” says Q&D Construction. “Regional retail centers typically take a few years to build, making it difficult for developers to secure the long-lead tenant commitments necessary to justify their investment. Thanks to Q&D, RED has kept big promises to big retailers to turn things over quickly.”
SYSTEM HIGHLIGHTS
The project features seven buildings on the 148 acre site. Q&D has completed Construction Site Management services and Landlord Tenant Improvements, varying in scope from demising walls to turn-key spaces, on more than fifty tenant suites. To facilitate rapid completion throughout the busy site, our team set 53 HVAC Rooftop units by heli-crane at six buildings within the center in less than 90 Minutes.
FINISH HIGHLIGHTS
Q&D Construction placed and finished 12,000 cubic yards of concrete to construct site development and buildings. Over 25,000 plants and shrubs and nearly 2,000 trees have been planted. There are 28 custom sculptures, monuments and fountains honoring the Northern Nevada area in the project.
