The Executive Team of Q&D Construction is made up of Norm Dianda, Tim Kretzschmar, Lance Semenko and Paul Olivas. While Norm is still a very active and very big part of Q&D Construction, he has also surrounded himself with some of the best young minds within the construction industry.

NORM DIANDA
President

The D of Q&D, Norm is not only the founder, but the heart, soul and official tour giver of Q&D. Norm is a native Nevadan who began his career working in a cabinet manufacturing facility during high school. Then, right after graduating, he headed to Sargent Showcases and Fixture Company for a full-time gig.

He founded Q&D a mere seven years later and has not looked back since. Hospitals. Hotel-Casinos. Retail centers. Manufacturing facilities. Office buildings. Highways. Bridges. You name it, Q&D has built it.

But more than just a construction company, Norm has created a mammoth operation that can take on any project, no matter how big or small. Over the years, he has added a cabinet and millwork facility (Artefice), a general engineering department, a rock, sand and asphalt supplier, a paving department, a concrete department, a concrete and asphalt recycling plant and a special projects department. Oh yeah, he also found time to marry Laura Caramella some 43 years ago and have two boys: Mike of Mike Dianda Trucking and Chris, who is Vice Chairman of the Q&D Board of Directors.

TIM KRETZSCHMAR
Senior VP - Building

Tim is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations at Q&D Construction in our Northern Nevada and California offices, including our building, special projects and millwork divisions.

After joining Q&D in 2000, Tim led tenant improvement projects before focusing on preconstruction for a series of large, complex projects at Q&D. Most recently he guided the $50,000,000 Reno-Tahoe International Airport’s ABC into construction. He helped launch $111,000,000 in work at Red Development’s Legends of Sparks Marina.

Tim has expertise in a broad range of project types. As project executive, he assisted East West Partners in moving through preconstruction on a series of resort improvements at Northstar at Tahoe, including the $230,000,000 five-star Ritz-Carlton Highlands Hotel, which features an extensive spa, meeting facility and parking structure in a remote setting.

Tim’s medical expertise includes directing the award-winning team building the $64,500,000 Saint Mary’s West Campus Expansion with a large utility expansion, a 7-floor parking structure, a plaza with parking and the 6-story Center For Health with tenant improvements.

Tim also has experience in campus projects. He contributed building oversight in planning, bidding and constructing the $75,800,000 UNR Knowledge Center, which finished on time with an aggressive schedule. As construction manager, he orchestrated upgrades at more than a dozen schools in the Carson City School District, coordinating all work to be delivered during school breaks over a 2-year period.

Tim effectively builds consensus among stakeholders on complicated projects thanks to his background in construction management and owner representation. While with Parsons and Bossardt Corporation, he was a liaison between owners and contractors. At NH Northern, he worked directly for the owner.

Tim has a BS in Business Administration/Construction Management from Minnesota State University. He is on the Board of Directors for State of Nevada Public Works and is active in Associated General Contractors. He is also on the board for the Academy for Career Education, a charter school.

LANCE SEMENKO
Senior VP - General Engineering

Lance oversees the day-to-day operations of Q&D’s General Engineering division, leading bidding efforts and overseeing work on hand. He leads preconstruction efforts for general engineering projects at Q&D, contributing to constructability and project strategy. Throughout construction, he ensures goals for quality, budget and schedule are met.

Lance began his career as a laborer more than 20 years ago and worked up to estimator /project manager, then chief estimator before becoming a vice president. His ability to train and inspire his team has made him successful in managing complex, diverse projects.

Lance has Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration, University of Nevada, Reno. He is a board member and past president of Truckee Meadows Boys & Girls Club and is on the Board for Associated General Contractors, an organization he’s served for 6 years on various committees. Lance is a volunteer for Sparks Little League, Sparks Babe Ruth, Reno Ballers basketball and Pop Warner football.

PAUL OLIVAS
Senior VP - Finance

Paul is Q&D’s Senior VP of Finance. But don’t let the fact that he’s a “numbers guy” fool you. Paul has quite a history working within and around the construction industry.

Paul began his career at Kafoury Armstrong & Co. before joining the Silver Legacy Resort Casino as controller in 1995. But then he made the Jump to Jensen Precast and helped them grow from five locations to 12.

Paul is a CPA with a BA in Economics from Stanford. (Smart) And a MBA from Wharton. (Extra smart.)

MIKE DIANDA
Executive VP

Mike grew up with big equipment and trucks. Q&D’s equipment yard was his play ground. Then it was his training ground. We get to keep big promises with aggressive schedules because Mike orchestrates our transportation like a maestro.

As an Executive VP, Mike guides a lot more than trucks. He guides our future.

CHRIS DIANDA
Executive VP

Because his big brother wasn’t sharing the big iron, Chris could either keep sweeping the shop or go away and study economics and statistics. Luckily for us, he took the academic route.

As an Executive VP, Chris manages assets, expands company vision, and guides our future.
